The magical, papery beauty of the poppy make it one of my favourite flowers to photograph. My grandmother, Margaret Myrtle Story grew them in happy abundance near her front door. I can never quite get over my surprise that such a strange and narrow stem can hold such a magnificent bloom. That sounds weird. My mate Stephen Williams says this one looks like a flamenco dancer’s dress.
