    While walking across the north of England with one of my best mates, Angela Wade, we passed this field full of buttercups. Ange looked at me. I was admiring the view. I looked back at her. She smiled that devilish smile that she gets when she’s about to do some living. She took off, running through the buttercups. I ran after her. We ran till we were surrounded by buttercups and then we lay on the ground. We looked around us. The buttercups were bobbing around in the breeze – little bursts of yellow against the grey clouds. It was bloody fantastic. If you haven’t lain in a field of buttercups before, I highly recommend it. Thanks Ange. I always know life is going to be fun with you around.

    A beautiful, funny 4 year old I know called Jack found some leaves and painted them. I saw this one and the shape and pooling colours grabbed me so I put it on their kitchen bench and took a photo of it. I love how little people see things. And the joy they have in sharing them with you. I love that we made this together.

    My friend Lorena likes the little unexpected plant growing up through this moss. I took this photo while I was on a walk with my dog Sookie. This moss was so spongey to walk on. Ever since I was a kid, seeing things like this made me stop and get down really close to the ground. Sometimes moss is short and velvety. Sometimes it’s long and luscious like this one. When you get down that close to it you can smell the dirt and see how soft the ground can be.

    When I showed this one to my son James he just said, “Wow.” He's a tough customer so I was rather pleased with that feedback. My friend Kitsy said, “What is it? It looks like a coral reef from the air. I want it.” She got it. She was one of my first customers. Thank you, darling Kitsy Lawes.

    I took this photo of the inside of a paua shell in New Zealand. In Australia we call the creatures who live in these shells 'abalone'. The one who made this shell was a genius.

    It’s the little things that light me up: stopping to smell the roses, hugging a person I love, laughing a great big belly laugh, walking barefoot on soft green grass, skinny dipping and lying in the sun. All those little things put together are pretty damn magical – like how clear this reflection is in this lake. Each tree has a twin.
